Pioneers Liked to Blow Stuff Up

July 24th, 2008

In celebration of the Mormon pioneers, there are a lot of fireworks displays tonight in Utah.

Last night as I was getting ready for bed, Heather started screaming at me. I figured it was a major accident or something Coco had done. It was neither. I ran to grab the camera and got this shot after playing around with the 70-200.

Happy blowing stuff up to celebrate the arrival of the (mostly) white people day. o

You always take such awesome pictures…so much that every time I show my husband your pictures and your wife’s pictures he gets jealous of you and your camera. Enjoy all the fireworks!

Nice. I have a heck of a time with fireworks shots — still haven’t gotten one I’m happy with yet. This has a kind of “in outer space” feel to it that I like.

    Awesome picture!

Jon, you make me want to put down my camera because I realize I’m just not that good.

shoot a few portraits with it wide open and you will find a side to it you didn’t know existed.

Yesterday was the first time in 34 years that I did not celebrate Pie & Beer Day. I tried to convince my boss here in Chicago, that Illinois should celebrate the holiday because the Mormons LEFT Illinois. I thought I had a good arguement, alas, I lost.

I had no idea you guys had such a holiday - cool though. LOVE the photo - a great pyro formation and so many colours!! That’s lovely.

I got some nice shots of the amazing fireworks display at Disneyland Paris last Halloween, will have to dig them out

this makes me sick!! I took about 50 photo’s of fireworks and only got about 4 that were clear without the smoke on them! Yours is perfectly clear and crisp.

Hey! That one guy on House is black and he’s Mormon!

  12. eddeaux says:

I’ve never seen a black Mormon going door-to-door here in Texas. Only white men on bicycles - even in this heat. I feel so sorry for them.

On an upnote - Happy Birthday!
