Oh my, this is going to sound terribly lame, but I played your video when I made edamame this weekend. I had no clue what to do with the bag of frozen edamame dooce previously inspired me to buy. Tasted great. :)

I'm speechless. I am in love with both of you. I know you're not Mormon anymore, but if you ever need another wife, I'm your woman.

There are so many things about this video that are tremendous Jon:

You: "It's a pot-pan" LOL. Actually I think it's a Wok - pan - but no biggie!

Heather "More water. A little more." You at emptying pot: "WAY too much water"

Heather "just need a little bit more" "a little more" ..like are you EVER doing the right thing Jon!! (secretly I'm SO glad I'm not the only women to nit-pick my poor husband)

Your LOVE for Coco! (you can't pretend NOW!)

Heather's incredible infectious laugh .. love it!

Both of your amazing dogs and their amazing contortions.

Leta .. and the fact that she talks with her fingers, just like you talk with
your hands! (and your excellent parenting in having her thank you correctly, God I spend my days doing that with my seven year old too!!)

lovely lovely piece of your life - thanks for sharing! Now, if only I could buy Edamame here in Montreal!!

(btw .. Edamame does not sound like it s/b pronounce eda-momeh .. but .. I digress...)

Six years ago? Coco's older than I thought.

OK, this is going to sound ridiculous but Heather's voice on video sounds, to me, like my own voice. You know when you hear your own voice through a recording and you're all, woah, this is what I sound like? Well apparently I sound like Heather. And it was freaking my shit out.

Now I want edamame.

Do you use salt after cooking?

Also, I know you two will be out of town, but there is a group of Utah bloggers meeting up at Murphy's on Friday night and even though I'm no longer a Utah blogger, I've met a bunch after moving to Chicago. Anyhow, we would be remiss if one of us didn't at least invite you and Heather to join us. Alas, you will be in San Fran.

Egad! Never, ever throw salt in a pan... er, pot... fuck, let's call it a "pon". None the less, never, EVER, throw salt in a pon of water that is not at a good boil, roiling or otherwise. When it sits at the bottom of the pon where the heat is the strongest it will do a number (no, not like "Singin' In The Rain") on your pon finish. Always throw the salt in AFTER the roil has started rolling. It will add years to the life and health of your pon. It is also good for the environment.

Thanks for the Edamame lesson!

Jon, I recently saw Kate Walsh IN REAL LIFE and GOOD CHOICE. Also, she wore a towel on some late night show because "she didn't have anything to wear" and it was cute. Now, who do I see about making sure Phelps never has anything to wear?

OK, if you play your cards right you'll have your own series; and I will finally have a justification for getting digital cable as that's where the local company has seen fit to move the Food Network.

Beware of false economies: you generally have to use up to twice as much kosher versus regular table salt by volume. Always compare prices based on weight, not volume. Plus, think of all the e-mails you're going to get chastising you for not using iodized salt ("It's like you're trying to give your family goiters!", etc. etc.).

You might want to point out to Heather that the 20 seconds you left the water to boil before putting the edamame in to cook is probably less environmentally unfriendly than the extra time it takes to bring your pot(an) to a boil uncovered.

Also, the term she's looking for is London broil. An easy way to remember this is the mnemonic "A watched pot(an) never broils, guv'ner"
