@<a href="http://blurbomat.com/archives/2008/09/01/winners/all-comments/#comment-29065" rel="nofollow">mudita</a>, read my <a href="http://blurbomat.com/archives/2008/09/01/winners/all-comments/#comment-29050" rel="nofollow">previous comment</a>.

Edwards didn't make a point of campaigning against adultery. He didn't and doesn't want to deny funding for programs that educate people. He's a moron who couldn't keep it in his pants.

Finally, the pregnancy isn't the karma. That's not what I'm implying. I'm implying that ignorance and the propagation of it is where the karma comes. We are on the cusp of a new Dark Ages and it will be fundamentalism and religion that ushers it in. I would like to halt this turn away from reason and education. Palin is one of the minions who wants to turn back the clock 500 years. I stand against her.

I second bethy's comment on your 'karma' tag. I understand calling out politicians for the hypocrisy of saying one thing and doing another (your 9/2 post). But Palin's daughter is not a politician, she's a child. Maybe she's pregnant because she didn't have sex education, or maybe she was well-educated and the condom broke. Are you saying that whenever hardship falls on your family, that you deserve it? Because it sounds like you're pleased that this 17-year-old girl is going to face challenges.

Politics aside, my heart goes out to her, just as my heart went out to Elizabeth Edwards when, after many denials, John Edwards finally admitted to an affair while his wife was battling cancer. I believe Elizabeth & family did nothing to 'deserve' his betrayal, and I believe theirs was also a private matter. You must too since, you didn't see the need to post links like the one below and tag it self-righteous karma.

@<a href="http://blurbomat.com/archives/2008/09/01/winners/comment-page-1/#comment-29049" rel="nofollow">bethy</a>, you should read my <a href="http://blurbomat.com/archives/2008/09/02/surprise-gop-vp-pick-is-a-hypocrite/" rel="nofollow">post today</a>.

It seems that the people who make the biggest issue of unplanned teen pregnancy, including denying education to the very teens that need it are those who pay the biggest price. That is my implication. That perhaps those who are in position to deny proper contraceptive education might want to look in the mirror.

I fail to see how the fact that Palin's daughter is pregnant is a reflection on Palin. As parents, we try to instill our values and beliefs into our kids but at the end of the day they will make their own decisions. Also, the notion that a new life born into this world, unplanned or otherwise, is some sort of Karmic vindication (as you imply in your tag, "Self Righteous Karma") is highly distasteful, and smacks of self-righteousness on your part.

Please don't jump to the conclusion I am Republican- I believe in political debate- I just don't see how this is a pertinent revelation.

Wow. Your politics is even more complicated than ours in the UK at the moment! I can't believe the words 'ban on birth control' have even been uttered, I seriously can't...

Anyway if I was in the US I'd back up your vote Jon. Please America, don't screw this up this time ;-) (I'm wishing the same here in the UK for our next election...)

I don't care that her daughter is pregnant or that her husband got a DUI as a young adult. These are not issues that show if Palin is or is not qualified to be president of the United States. They only show that she comes from a real family....one with warts...like we all do. Her husband and child are the only ones that should be held accountable for their actions (not Palin), and they are not the candidate seeking public office.

I was ecstatic when McCain choose Palin as his running mate. Based on Palin's lack of experience alone, I instantly thought McCain's choice put Obama and Biden over the top.

His choice told me a lot about his own ability to make sound choices as president.

Oh come on! She's the perfect pick. Look at how well she balances the ticket. McCain is a grumpy old man and she was Miss Congeniality.

Though frankly, I wonder if she has what it takes to fill Dick Cheney's shoes as a Republican VP. Is she ready to become A Dark Lord? I know she's a lifetime member of the NRA, but IS SHE READY TO SHOOT PEOPLE IN THE FACE?

America needs to know!

One more thing...though I am a Christian, I would never classify myself as right-wing (in fact, I'm a fairly liberal Democrat). However, I come from a lineage of very conservative Southern Baptists. My uncle is a Southern Baptist minister in Mississippi, and six years ago, when my cousin (his daughter) became pregnant out of wedlock (she was 22 and a senior in college), he offered his resignation to his church for his inability to hold moral authority over his children. He also made his daughter (who, remember, was an ADULT) get up in front of his church and apologize for her sins. After that was done, the church board decided they wouldn't accept his resignation, and he remains in the pulpit. And he is THRILLED with Sarah Palin...

So, he felt that HE had failed morally because his ADULT daughter got pregnant out of wedlock, but Sarah Palin is a model of Christian morality. Is it just me, or does that smack of hypocrisy.

BTW, my cousin, at my uncle's insistence, married the jerk who was the father of the child. They are now divorced.

I love my family, but this stuff drives me nuts. Also, they think I'm bound for Hell because I'm voting for Obama.

I am truly amazed. I thought American politics couldn't possibly get any weirder than George W. Bush getting elected for a second term, but clearly I was mistaken. When I first saw Palin's picture, where she was standing next to McCain at the podium, I thought, "Wow, when did Tina Fey become the governor of Alaska?" Now I'm thinking..."Wow, Tina Fey might be a better VP than the woman McCain has picked." She certainly can't have a more complicated family life.

Is this woman acceptable as the next President of the United States?

Because that is what McCain's VP should be seen as. I need to go find some foreign press opinions on Palin. She's too much of a wild card, and has too many home obligations.
