September 17th, 2008Obama/Biden want to air this. It’s going to cost a lot of money. I can’t decide if posting it here has more value than just donating (again) to the campaign. Maybe I’ll just do both.

I got goosebumps, too. But a 2 minute spot, wow, that will cost a fortune. Maybe he’ll run it in swing states and I’ll get to see it here in Missouri.

So glad someone’s finally saying it. I live in San Diego on a grad student stipend, and it’s getting harder and harder to pay for food and gas.
My parents are staunch Republicans, and I feel like telling them that if McCain gets elected, they can expect more phone calls from me asking for money…especially when I can’t find a job after getting my PhD. That might actually get them to change their vote!
Gonna try to scrape together some cash to donate to the campaign. People NEED to realize the reality of the economic situation instead of just willingly pulling the wool down over their own eyes.
Sending this to everyone I have in my address book…I am retired and co’t ever remember the country being in such an awful place..I hope some of these “other” people wake up and stop picking one thing only on which to base their votes…look at the whole picture.
Aside to Jon- love Chuck and Coco but please look at info on rawhide treats for dogs. My vet recommended none of these type treats for my dogs.. just one of the sites regarding the warning against them…

Imagine that, the possibility of an eloquent President…it’s been so long I could cry.
So, I’m a white Methodist male living in Alabama who voted for George W. Bush both times. I work as an aerospace/defense contractor. The rest of my nuclear family are McCain voters. I even voted for McCain in Alabama’s Presidential primary. Unlike most Americans, my paycheck isn’t flat—it’s strongly beaten inflation in the last three years. My only debt is in my fixed-rate mortgage and my car note. I’m not an Obama voter, right?
I just gave Barack $60 in the hopes that it will help this ad be on the air. I figure that Alabama is a lost cause for Barack, but that doesn’t mean that the whole country is.
And I will go to bed tonight and pray that Barack is elected President, because I worry like hell about letting the GOP continue to hold power.

I am a lot older than you so the first campaign I can remember is Kennedy for president. I agree with you. This is the best presidential campaign commercial I have ever seen. I am sending more money today so it can be run everywhere.

Thanks for posting this, Jon. I don’t watch a heck of a lotta tv, so I might not have seen this otherwise - I think it’s so important for a broad audience to see this. So important, in fact, that just as Mr. Morris (above, #10) did, I too donated $60 just now to the campaign. Just wanted to let you know that you, by way of posting this, raised $120 for the campaign.
I had never donated to a political candidate before, but I have already donated 3 times - and more than I can really afford in these scary times - in an effort to help get this intelligent, compassionate, visionary man put in place to make the changes necessary to rescue this country from its precarious toehold at the edge of the precipice. How the Republicans - and my spousal equivalent is one of them, bless his misguided little heart - can still ignore the economy crashing down around us and think that four more years of these dismal GOP policies and abhorrent lies will do anything to help heal the desperate illness of this country, well, I just can’t fathom it. Tragically, like my sweetie, a lot of them are so brainwashed that they don’t recognize the truth when it slaps them in the face…. or in their 401K.
I have nightmares about what will happen if Obama doesn’t win. So I’m going to donate again, and again, and again if necessary. We can’t let the unthinkable happen.

Thanks so much for posting this video! And for not being afraid to voice your political opinions, as so many blogs today are doing. This man can save our country and I am voting for him! And if he doesn’t win, well, maybe we can all move to Canada!
I’m having the worst day at work, mentally and emotionally hanging on by a thread, and as per usual, stop by to see what Dooce and Blurb can do to divert my attention for a few quick moments.
Now, I have to deal with tears. Seeing this spot, and reading the above comments, overfilled my capacity for joy today. I live in Cleveland, Oh; once again, we are on the front line of the election battle. Debating with neighbors, trying to infuse reason on local message boards, listening to the incessant (insulting) pandering going on by the McCain camp in our local media - it can be too much to take sometimes. I truly feel that Obama can win Ohio, but I won’t rest until election day in order to know I did everything I could to help ensure his victory.

I am as jaded as they come. I know politicians, I work for politicians, I am related to politicians. I get some politicians elected and others defeated.
My mantra has always been no matter how much you love them, they’ll all eventually break your heart. It’s been a mantra that helps me to keep my distance and not be so broken-hearted when they toss a vote or lay with the lions.
But I swear to God that I am willing to give this politician - nay, this leader- my devotion, my time, my trust, and yes, my money. We need this leader the way that you don’t know you need something until you get it and then you don’t know how you lived before you had it.
Only this is different, because I know we need this, and I don’t know how we have been living with what we have.

I watched that clip and then went to his site where for the first time in my life I actually gave money to a politician. I want my son to grow up in a country that can elect a man like Obama. If he doesn’t win I fear we are headed toward a theocracy. Thanks for posting the video.
I cried. Actually cried. I feel amazingly fortunate to be this excited about a presidential candidate the very first time I get to vote in a national election (I’m 21). Obama genuinely cares more about this country then he cares about being right, and that’s not something you see often.

Sitting here in England WISHING I could vote for him too. You know, I’ve given a number of times this election, when I never have before, and I was starting to get a little peeved by all the requests. I get them from MoveOn, I get them from the candidates and their supporters, I get them from the Democratic party.
I watched the video and I was impressed, but it wasn’t until I read the comments here that I realized it’s still not enough; I have to give more, too. I feel truly inspired. I think I was afraid to believe that other people really felt the way I do about how important this is. Thank you all for that.
I saw this commercial Saturday night! I live in southwest Virginia, so it is running in the swing states. It definitely played in it’s entirety and sent shivers to my toes : )
I am almost 60 years old and have never donated to any political campaign. I did this week..$25.00 to this fine man and his campaign.
It so disturbs me that for some reason, he isn’t running 20 points ahead of McSame and the Sarahinator. How can that be? Can people not look at McCain and see there is NO difference between him and the current occupant?
