“Green” Student Art

September 19th, 2008

There were these paper torch looking things on the quad at UTK. I wanted to grab a few shots and a student approached me to explain the project. He used entirely recycled materials (the Daily Beacon, paint stir sticks from a hardware store) and the installation would be up for a few hours. There was a breeze blowing that gave a nice vibe to the 40 or so “flowers” or torches. I’m guessing flowers. Or torches. o

I’m not really sure why, but this is one of my favorite shots that you’ve ever posted. No other reason, I guess, other than that it’s very enjoyable for the eye to peruse.

I saw these on my way to class and had no idea what they were…

But now I know and am pleasantly surprised.
