Severe Gear Lust

Without further ado: Reverie « Vincent Laforet’s Blog

Note: I am aware that he’s got some crazy expensive lenses. And a not small budget.

I think photography and videography just experienced a major shift in paradigm. The video was shot with an SLR camera. I wanted this 8 years ago when I had three close friends get married and I wanted stills and video of the event but only one camera to do it all.

I don’t know if my photo sales will help me justify this camera, but damn, I want it.

Thanks to reader Doug for sending this in. o

You don’t know how excited I was to see this move by Canon (following Nikon’s similar move with the D90). The movie Laforet produced was beautiful and the fact that you can uses lens and true DoF is awesome. No more one-size-fits-all visuals from a video cam.

Just wish my budget was up to par!

Wiping the drool off my chin. And my desk. And that puddle on the floor.

Wish I had the budget for it :-(

That video looks amazing but I’ve seen some disappointing results from the Nikon SLR video: http://s477.photobucket.com/albums/rr134/jamesmel9/?action=view&current=DSC_0012.flv

I’m looking forward to the RED Digital Still & Motion Camera. Though that’s no good if you already have a collection of nice lenses.

Holy effing cat balls. I might have to sell my body for that camera. I’m sure my husband wouldn’t mind. I’m just not sure I could get enough for the cost of the camera. Hmm.

Stunning visuals though you’d also need a lot of talent to put something like that together.

I wish it was in my price range!

The irrational little voice inside my head just convinced me that I NEED this. My 5D is my favorite piece of equipment (better clarity, better size, better @ higher ISO, and easier to use than my 1D mark IIn) and I can’t wait to see what this one can do! The question is, which one do I sell to soften the cost?

Thanks, I enjoyed the short! I wonder what the budget was and how many crew members he had. It was lit nicely, too.
