All the Images I Posted Here in 2008
December 29th, 2008One of the things I did for myself in 2008 was to try to post a photo here every weekday. Watching Heather do her photos, I knew it would be more work than I initially thought. That was the point. I slacked off when work got busy, but I stuck it out for the whole year. This is a big deal for me. I’m usually a pretty good idea-generator/starter of projects and a poor finisher.
I’m really proud of these shots and I’ve uploaded them en masse to flickr as a way to see them together in one spot and a safety backup as well.
In slideshow format:
I can’t thank you enough for your support over the years, but particularly this year as I’ve shared more of my photo work publicly than I ever had before. I’ve often chided other, more talented people for not putting their work out there. This year, I chided myself. Thank you, readers!
To the haters: Eat me (and thanks for the traffic!).
Baby steps, people.
Happy New Year and I’ll see you in 2009 with more stuff. o

Congrats on one year, Jon. Keep up the good work in 2009!
Thanks for your view point throughout the year Jon. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with for 2009.
Happy New Year!
I’ve been a lurker for a while, but wanted to take a moment to say it’s been a pleasure to view your images and posts. Your graphic style is showing thru your images, and I have to say I also find your work inspirational, as a graphic artist myself taking the plunge into more photographical pursuits.
Keep up the great work.
Wow, Jon. These are really great. A wonderful goal well accomplished!
Jon,
It’s quite a job isn’t it.
A year ago on Thursday my lovely bride told me that even though I shot a ton of pics on vacations and on holidays, I never JUST took pictures. So I, like you, I set a goal to take and post at least one photo every day (even weekends) for the entire year. I haven’t missed a day. I even dedicated two of mine to you (light fixtures of yours that I loved).
I hope you learned as much about photography as I did. I absolutely loved the experience and know that even though I will not be continuing to take and post every day, I will still carry my Nikon wherever I go. It has become my constant companion. Unfortunately, I have been posting mine on a .Mac (I hate MobileMe) and can’t do comments there other than a name. If you are interested in seeing them they are at http://gallery.mac.com/jimbellomo. Because there was no way to put comments on them, I added those on a series of 12 blog posts at http://web.mac.com/jimbellomo/Jims_Photo_Blog/My_Daily_Photos/My_Daily_Photos.html
You will find the ones that you inspired on June 10, October 12 and October 23.
Jim
I, too, had that same goal for 2008…and failed miserably. But in my defense, I was pregnant, went crazy, got un-crazy, and now spend much of my non-work time with my 8-month-old. That’s a good excuse, no?
Thank you for putting yourself out there, for taking the criticism, and still doing it. You & Heather rock. Thank you also for admitting that you are a good starter and a not-so-good finisher. For those of us in the same camp, it’s nice to know that even those who appear to have their shit together have their weak points, too.
Here’s to 2009!
Awesome photos. You are a talented photographer. I look forward to seeing more in 2009. Keep up the good work!
As an Aries, I know well the good starter/poor finisher syndrome and even used that trait in my most recent novel–which has a character partly inspired by you.
I hope for many more years of enjoying your outstanding photography. Happy new year to you and your family.
Jon, I cannot believe a kind, talented guy like you even HAS haters.
But oh well, in the day and age of Web 2.0, who can think inside the cotton candy bubble of love and compassion?
I love waking up and surfing to blurbomat.com to see if there’s anything new.
Keep up the work, you are doing an excellent job at it.
Happy 2009!
I used to be one of the Dooce stragglers that came to the website, but now there are days where I will load your page before I load hers. You have such talent, and your photos are really inspiring to get out there and keep practicing. I hope someday I’m half as good, sir!
Happy belated holidays to your family. Hope your New Years goes well, and that the new year brings you guys much joy.
It still shocks me that there are “haters” of awesome photography, a great family, and a truly nice, smart guy. I also appreciate your politics.
“I’m usually a pretty good idea-generator/starter of projects and a poor finisher.”
Ditto.
But I’m getting better too. I’m glad you had faith in yourself and are now sharing your beautiful photos with us!
Have a happy new year!
You are awesome, and thank you for sharing your photos (and writing) with us this year. Don’t sell yourself short on either of those – you are very talented and I enjoy coming to your site just as much as I do your wife’s.
You took some completely breathtaking pictures this year that really show your talent and eye for shape and color. My favorites are the winter pictures with the blue sky as a background. They look like modern art. Congratulations on completing what you set out to do, so few of us stick with things like that. Beautiful.
Yay! I can post again.
I have really enjoyed your photos this year. Thanks for the recap.
I love your photos and the flickr slideshow is cool. I want to know the tool you and H use to create the photo slideshow/video to music with intro titles etc. It’s too cool. HAPPY NEW YEAR to the Armstrong family… crazy dog and all!
I have loved all your pics, thanks for sharing!
And the haters comment made me laugh and almost snort coffee out my nose.
