Another Girl in the House

January 16th, 2009

I’m very excited!

Logistically, this means bathroom sharing issues will be more about time management than gym socks and too much alone time in there during the teen years. We hope.

The Mrs. shares the news:
This kid better get used to hand-me-downs | dooce®

Seriously. Very thrilled. o

  1. Congrats, Jon. Not sure if I could handle the 3:1 ratio … but I wish you well! Very exciting news for you all.

Still going with Princess Aurora? ;)

  2. Michelle says:

    Congratulations! :)

  3. doug says:

Poor poor Jon and the impending hormone imbalance. Congratulations to all, nonetheless. I’m sure one more female can’t make that much difference…

  4. Antigone says:

    Congrats to you all!

I’m sure Leta is thilled so the real question is, how is Chuck taking the news?

  5. filmgoerjuan says:

Congrats to you, Heather and Leta!

  6. Patrick says:

Congratulations! Have two girls myself, my life has never been the same again… :P

  7. Toni says:

Congratulations, Jon, to you and your family! I wanted girls, but I had boys. THANK GOD! ;)

  8. Ms. Moon says:

My husband used to look around at his three daughters and me and say, “I must have made some wish when I was young about wanting to be surrounded by women.” And then he’d sigh.
But it wasn’t a bad sigh.
    Congratulations!

  9. faydean says:

Welcome to the world of two daughters Jon!!!

You thought one little girl hangin on you’re every move was too cool…wait until they’re fighting over your attention!

  10. faydean says:

Oh, and here’s a sample of the type of conversation you might here from your backseat in a few short years, LOL. Thought you’d appreciate this considering our political “discussions” a while back :) . I copied this from my Facebook page. They are six (Sarah, about to turn 7 in Feb.) and three (Ruby, turning 4 tomorrow).

On the way home, while listening to conservative talk radio…where they are, of course, talking about Obama, I hear Ruby say, “Obama isn’t mean.”

    Then I hear, from Sarah…

“Ruby, you don’t know what you’re talking about…we didn’t vote for Obama.”

Ruby: “Obama is nice…he’s not done anything mean.” (this influence comes from a Obama supporting teacher of hers at school who is always trying to get my goat, LOL).

Sarah, yelling: “Mama, Ruby’s talking like a Democrat again!!!”

  11. Kristan says:

It also means a lot less counter space by the sink… :P

AND THE HAIR! OH THE HAIR!

  12. eacastillo says:

OMG. CONGRATULATIONS. This means you get to be as miserable as I am – what with THREE girls. I’ll be sure to put a little gift in the mail for y’all…. CONGRATS AGAIN.

  13. Trackellalouise says:

    Congratulations to you both!

  14. Coelecanth says:

    Congrats!

When my daughter was born I asked the doctor, “Boy or girl.” He pointed the genitals at me and said, “What do you think?” You know the only reason he did it was because some fathers want a boy so bad they get it wrong. Me, I was elated to have a girl.

  15. jdiettrich says:

My dad always said that one man in a room full of women was never outnumbered. He’s in the same situation you will find yourself in as soon as Princess Aurora arrives. Both the dog and cat that we had as kids had to be boys though. :-) Many, many congratulations.

  16. Amanda says:

    Congratulations Daddy!

  17. blurb says:

    Thanks everybody!

  18. J. Bo says:

It’s gonna be great, and you’ll be an even better father for having two girls (my dad was never wistful about not having a son; being the father of daughters made him a feminist, actually– the idea that ANYTHING might be denied his “brilliant and talented” girls on account of their gender drove him INSANE).

I’m so happy for your family… but I’d have been equally happy if you were expecting a boy-cub. I’M JUST HAPPY everyone’s healthy and happening and so on.

    HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY, etc…

  19. minxlj says:

You raised a valid point there – you need to build another bathroom. Srsly.

Congratulations though; I couldn’t be happier for all of you and I think it’s fantastic that Leta is soooo excited about having a baby sister. Can’t wait to see her reactions and how she looks after the little one. It’s been amazing watching her grow up, and it will be just as cool with Offspring 2.0 ;)

I’m off to chat to the lovely DORJ! and congratulate him too, cos I know he’s just as excited :)

  20. leesavee says:

Awwww…another Daddy’s Girl! Congratulations, Jon! Leta must be beside herself with joy. I was a bit concerned about how she’d take the news if it were a boy. :)

  21. m.cellophane says:

I am surviving 3 girls and a boy. Congrats to you and the missus!

  22. wumples says:

Hooray for Princess Aurora! Congrats, you guys!

  23. tracy says:

  24. jon deal says:
