My marvelous image

The Tree Accommodates

March 10th, 2009

This was shot with the 12-24 and has a super trippy thing going on at the edges that I really like. I don’t shoot as much as I thought I would with this lens, but the tree seemed to call out “super wide angle, bro”.

Not that I actually heard it call out or spoke back or anything. o

  1. I liked my palm tree photo … until I saw yours.

Until I get some better equipment, I’m going to keep telling myself your stuff looks so much better because you have nicer gear. (I’m afraid to get nicer gear, because then I won’t have that excuse to lean on anymore.)

    Hey DaddyScratches,

It’s not about the gear (although I have the Nikon equivalent lens). You can make similar images with a $20 plastic toy camera and no photoshop – Check out this Palm tree on my facebook page (link at bottom) – a bit different, but absolutely no post processing – this is on Film, and straight from the camera.

If anyone ever wants a guest post from a photog, let me know BTW –

  3. Is that a polarizing filter doing that trippy thing around the edges? Mine does that. I like it too! Great shot – the sun flare and light is just awesome.

I do love a palm tree.

  5. Lovely. A wide angle is next on my list, after a camera that can actually autofocus something other than a kit lens.

trees in socal definitely say ‘bro’. the lame, poser ones say ‘bra’.

Totally know what you mean by not shooting as much with a lens as you thought you would. I’ve got a Sigma 10-20 for my Nikon and lately its just been sitting in the bag. I’d love to get a tilt-shift lens, but the same thing – how much would I use it after that initial honeymoon period is over?

    Nice shot.
