Sorry, We’re Open
April 14th, 2009Another Austin, TX night shot. This place has fantastic food and great beer. And it was packed on a weeknight! We almost wanted to move to Austin 20 minutes after leaving. Austin is definitely the only “southern” city I’d consider moving to. The only problems: humidity & summer. But that’s what the beer and margaritas fix, right? o

i LOVE magnolia. i have given them a whole lot of my money.
i also LOVE your new camera. 2000 iso with zero noise? amazing.
We went to Austin late last year and had a *fabulous* time. Great city. I was actually pretty sad to go home when the time came.
Great fish tacos at Magnolia
That and the drugs! Wait, what?
Also, keep in mind that you don’t have to shovel heat. I’m just sayin’.
Margaritas and beer fix everything.
Ahhh the first place I ever ate on the cusp of starting my college time… it’s the BEST… and if we could get a job there, you can bet we’d be living there! Austin is awesome (even their shitty traffic)
You could be a SLC/Austin snowbird family: Winters in Austin, Summers in SLC. ;o)
delicious magnolia. did y’all eat at hyde park grill? they have a wonderful turkey burger & fries. man, i’m hungry.
and salsa. salsa fixes things too. we also have those HUGE cupcakes your wife likes.
I agree about Austin.
The perfect life might be: Portland (Oregon OR Maine) in the summer, Austin the rest of the year.
Wow, I really like this sign! And Austin? Yeah, I love it but couldn’t live there.
I’ve lived in Austin since 1982. Many things to love about it. What I hate about it is what I knew at the very first I would hate:
Heat — summer NEVER ENDS, it just takes a breather for a couple or three months
BUGS – the cockroaches are astonishingly big and they live EVERYWHERE. God, how I hate cockroaches. And with all that HEAT, nothing ever really kills off the fireants, the mosquitoes, the aforementioned cockroaches, etc. etc. etc.
And the traffic has become a huge issue. I now work from home, thanks be to God, but have to drive my daughter to work. The Friday afternoon traffic jam starts on Thursday and ends, well, sometime. Maybe by Monday.
Anyway, I second the idea of Austin as a second home — you guys love summertime, hate winter, what about having two homes? If you homeschool Leta and the new one???
Wow! Great capture. The lights are awesome.
There’s nothing like sitting outside, sipping margaritas in February. Just in case there IS a chill, most places have outside heating units that they disperse throughout the patios.
Austin is the only place that we’d ever live in Texas. We liked it so much, we came back here after spending 7 years north east. I’ll take 3 months of heat as opposed to 6 months of snow any day. At least with the heat you can get out and about. And there’s AC everywhere.
Sorry we’re open…LOL, I love it. And the colours in that sign are just perfect. Fab shot, Jon
