Happy New Carpet Day!
May 21st, 2009I cleared out the furniture from the basement in a couple of hours and the patio looks like the Universal Tour version of the Sanford & Son set, complete with dismantled antique brass bed. But the new carpet in the nursery is luscious:
Heather talks about the wallpaper here.
They are motoring pretty hard with the carpet, with one room done. Although now that they’ve turned off the Rush Limbaugh, I’m not sure we’ll see the same levels of productivity.
I’m going to have to move all of our crap back in when they are done, which means all of Leta’s crap as well. But the nursery will be one step closer to being complete. Which is nice. o

I love the fact that you referred to the pile of stuff as a Sandford & Son set because my husband referred to our basement the exact same way when we were doing renovations in our house before our baby boy was born. Sh*t that was a long run on sentence. I blame that on the end of my 3 month maternity leave. Good luck with the birth of your daughter!
Did you notice how new carpet smell is the same as new car smell?
Also, I can completely empathize with your lovely wife & yourself. When we were prepping for baby’s arrival, we had to combine two rooms worth of crap into one room worth of crap, and then also decided to finish reflooring the last two rooms in our house lest they never get done. So, we had two rooms worth of crap, plus the entire contents of our bedroom closet, in ONE 12×12 room. Up until that point in my life, pre-parenthood, it was pretty much my worst nightmare realized.
Wishing you two nesters & decorators an eventless couple of days as you put the nursery together. Can’t wait to see the photos!
If the photo on Heather’s blog is any indication, you guys have the TIDIEST, best-organized basement crap in the whole WORLD. Honestly, it’s practically alphabetized.
And I love how Chuck is hovering over that dog bed/pillow/folded duvet while Coco spazzes out on the lawn…
awwww…that beautiful hardwood is all covered up now.
I guess it looks great, though. Congrats on getting another project done.
The hardwood is not covered up. This is on another floor.
What does Heather’s t-shirt say in that pic? Bet it would be a best-seller!
That’s exactly what I wanted to know. Heather should start her own line of “one-liners”" for tee shirts.

hi jon,
i just finished heather’s book and i loved it. i’m curious, were you reading along as she wrote, or was her “love letter to you” a wonderful tear-filled, emotional surprise when you finally read it? i love the love between you two.
