Named after a husky voiced actress/author and my favorite aunt. We’ve gone the rounds on naming this kid, but when Heather suggested both these names, I knew pretty quickly that the other options weren’t as good. Sure, I tried, but this little one is definitely gentle and sweet so far.
Yesterday in the hospital we had a lot of visitors, and it reaffirmed our desire to live near our immediate families. My youngest sister grabbed our camera and started taking pictures of everybody. She got some great shots, but my favorite is this one where Leta is meeting her sister for the first time:

A new baby is Wonderful-ness magnified eleventy times. Her eyes are so dewy and irresistible and she’s just lovely all around. I love Little Papoose in yours and Leta’s arms.
I LOVE the name. You don’t hear of many Marlos. Or Marlowes, for that matter. Marlo Iris is very literary and 1940s film noir-ish sounding. It’s a name to live up to, for sure.
Leta may feel a little shell shocked but she’ll recover soon enough. Question is: will Coco?

Just to let you know Ms. Heather, the next morning my husband came in (me not knowing you’d given birth) and offered to up and reverse his vasectomy if I wanted a third baby!!
I was on the fence about it…but after seeing this little butternut…I dunno. Or I can just live vicariously through you via the Net…that would be much, much easier.
