Bronies. What?

Bronies. What?

Recently, I learned about Bronies from a niece. I’m old.

PBS’ Idea Channel has a short that explains:

Note to self: stay current on the memes. Cf: Urban Dictionary

And yes, I’m now aware that this is at least a couple of years old. So I did some research. I forgot about this Kottke.org post linking to this:

Friendship is magic.

That’s twice in one week I have encountered bronies. My 4 year old said she wants to be a pony for Halloween which my coworker went on to explain to me what a bronie is. Interesting week.

For reals, though. I have a 16 year old son and a TON of his guy friends are Bronies. They keep trying to recruit him but he’s not really into it. These kids today, eh? Remember when we were just sticking safety pins in our earlobes?

    My mind is blown. BLOWN.

I HATE that damn shown. My kid loves that show. The theme song torments me. I believe in watching the shows my kid watches but when we’re watching it I’m all I KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING SEE SEE?

Why didn’t I become a cultural studies professor? This is basically a thesis!

My husband is, like, the biggest brony ever and now I’m hooked too. We watch each new episode religiously and can’t wait for the new season to start. (The kids like it too, heh.)

I’m completely torn between being utterly delighted and, you know, scarred for life.
