One of the things with the iPhone 4 that I had a love/hate relationship with was the way it handled lens flare. There was a telltale grid of red transparent ovals that appeared. At first, I loved it. But when I wanted to edit the image, those ovals got in the way.

This shot is from the iPhone 4S and as you can see, the lens flare is closer to what a normal lens flare should look like. I was trying to capture the way light looks in autumn at or near dusk. Especially awesome was the way the light was hitting the not-yet-turned leaves in the tree at the left. When I travel now, I’m going to think twice about packing more camera gear. Unless the pain of lugging a DSLR is worth it in terms of the potential volume of great shots versus the immediacy of very good shots from the iPhone 4S.
