I’ve got at least three more Faroe Island photo posts coming after this one. Today, I’m sharing the images I took on my last day in the Faroes when we stopped near Tjørnuvík.The light turned out to be just as magical as my first days on the islands.
In the afternoon, we were driving back to Tørshavn, or so I thought, when our tour guide Matthew Workman mentioned that he was hopeful the clouds would break and we’d get amazing views not only of Tjørnuvík, but also of Risin and Kellingin, sea stacks called the giant and the witch. As we rounded the corner and began to descend, a unanimous vote to pull over was declared. The light was turning for the better and we all wanted to capture the magic.

Look closely for the land vehicles in this image:
The vehicles provide a sense of scale. Massive scale.
Looking up the road we had just driven:
Our tour leader and tireless driver, Matthew Workman, on that same road:
The light was amazing and cooperative for most of the afternoon and this shot looking down into Tjørnuvík is a perfect example of the vivid and warm:
We got back in the car and drove the rest of the way down to the village and then I jumped out and started shooting, working as quickly as possible, not knowing how long the light would stay:
From the village, there is a nice view of the sea stacks Risin and Kellingin (the giant and the witch):

I know I’ve been lax in getting these posted. It has been a veritable shitstorm around here. In a couple of days, I will have a vacation with my girls and I can’t wait for our adventures together.
