Light It Up

This Buckyball-esque light sculpture was installed at Madison Square Park when I was in NYC back in October, 2012. I loved that there were chaise lounges built to lie back and chill to the ever changing palette. I spent about an hour watching the light change, shooting, watching, shooting. The sculpture reminded me most of the early days of computer screen savers when you’d make your settings and then sit back and watch the computer make art based on those settings. Anybody old enough to remember After Dark?

I’m not speaking of the art of flying toasters. But the fractal module called Mandelbrot and especially the one called Satori. I spent way too much time staring at a monitor in the 90s.
