Movember

Movember

Movember. This year, I’m in, baby.

I’ve shaved off the starter beard and I’m starting fresh today. I’ll be posting photos of the progress. Heather has suggested I stick to the Magnum P.I.-era Tom Selleck mustache:

I figured that most of you would know what I’m on about. Movember is a movement where men grow a mustache to raise awareness for prostate cancer. I’ve joined the Dad 2.0 team, with Doug (Laid-Off Dad) French as captain. If you hit the team link, you can see, the team has raised a good chunk of change already.

Here’s my page on the official Movember site. It is sad right now, but I’m hoping to change that. If you are unsure of this whole deal, you can read more on the Movember About page. here’s some info:

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

I have some personal reasons for wanting to get involved this year, but the most important one is that this is a great cause and I’ve always wanted to grow a mustache under official sanction. I’ll share more as the month progresses and hopefully, the remaining three dozen readers I have will feel motivated to donate even a small amount.

Let’s do this thing.
