I’ve held a largely internal debate whether or not to talk about this publicly. However, given the responses to my posts regarding living with depression and with the idea of being more open, I’m going to share.
Given the amount of stresses that we’ve endured since 2004, I thought it might be helpful to look at a brief presentation:

The decision was not made lightly and the professionals don’t think I’m chronically depressed. I started talking 20mg of Prozac a day after we returned from San Diego. o

I heard some honking and Heather yelled, “Geese!”
I swung around and caught this. It almost looks fake. Or like a multiple exposure. Nature is cool sometimes. o

Taken last week just after the snowstorm(s). The trees know something and after the days of gray skies and inversion, I want to believe they know that spring is coming. Eventually.
Taken with the 70-200 f4. o

We had another snowstorm last week and I ventured out to capture the aftermath after being goaded by Heather to get off my ass. While this winter has been a long one with record breaking (and much needed) snowstorms, the trees are starting to bud.
This one was taken with my 70-200 f4 that I got for Christmas. I’m still getting used to the extra weight of the lens and how to hold the camera to get clear shots. o

Buttars asks black church to forgive perceived racist remark - Salt Lake Tribune
Love the language being used in the media like “perceived” and “possible” and “potential”. Utah still has it’s collective head stuck in 1949. There seems to be an awful lot of apologists for Mr. Buttars. I wonder if they’ve gotten any calls or emails about this? o

She doesn’t look like she’s that evil here, but believe me, this dog is a holy terror. We haven’t slept a full night since she came to our house to live. We might have to put her in lockdown where she sleeps in her own damn room where she can’t bother us and no one can hear her whining. o

I know these aren’t all conventional wisdom, but these selections represent who I’d like to win more than who I think will win. I usually pick them right before they call them out on the show, but I wanted to try it this way this year.
Original Screenplay:
Diablo Cody - “Juno”
Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role:
Ruby Dee in “American Gangster”
Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role:
Julie Christie in “Away from Her” (Lionsgate)
(although Ellen Page might get it for “Juno”; the academy loves younger actresses, just like Hollywood)
Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role:
Javier Bardem in “No Country for Old Men”
Performance by an Actpr in a Leading Role:
Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood”
Director:
Paul Thomas Anderson - “There Will Be Blood”
Best Picture:
“There Will Be Blood”
Anybody else got some picks? o

If you use Windows and are running Internet Explorer 6, I have a great deal of pity for you and three recommendations.
1) Hold the shift key and click the refresh button. Many of the horrible artifacts of my recent redesign will go away. You are still using a dead browser, however, so your problems run deeper than a simple shift-refresh. The next two points should help a little.
2) Download a new browser. For FREE! Firefox can be gotten here. Safari can be gotten here. Both are for Windows users. LOOK INTO IT.
3) Look seriously at a Mac. It will look back, just as seriously. o

Taken summer, 2007, near Duchesne, Utah.
This is a major crop of a much larger image. Not too bad, but this is about the limit of cropping, even with a full sensor camera shooting RAW at 12 megapixels. We aren’t going to mention how badly I want the next generation of digital SLR that isn’t even out yet. Or hasn’t even been invented. o
