Wishing Upon an Artificial Star

This shot is straight out of the camera (SOOC).

I’m digging on shooting in manual mode in a big way. If I turn off autofocus and go manual, the camera is faster, and I don’t have to wait to fire off a bunch of frames. Bracketing shots goes a lot faster. But I find myself instinctively waiting, even for less than a second, for the delay in focusing from so many years of autofocus enabled shots. Manual mode changes my relationship with the moment the shutter fires—it feels more real and connected. It’s strange to talk about, but I think the full manual mode forces me to slow down and relax.
