This customized 1969-71 (guessing ’69, but not an expert) beauty was parked on the street. In Brooklyn.
The owner came back while I was shooting and I asked why in the hell he would drive this car, much less park it on the street.
“I bought the car because I love to drive it! Of course I’m gonna drive it!”
“You are a brave man. I love the color!”
“This was done last year and is a match to the newest orange. The vintage color wasn’t as sharp.”
“Reminds me of the Hot Wheels I played with as a kid.”
A smile comes over his face as he says, “That’s exactly what I was going for!”
I wished him well and went on my way, trying to calculate how much money had been put into the car.
